You can get married in Ontario just about anywhere you like provided you have a licensed minister to perform the ceremony and, if you are holding the ceremony in a public space, the proper permit.

Registry Services has four wedding chambers in the civic centres that can be booked for weddings.

North York Civic Centre
5100 Yonge Street

Monday to Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Capacity:  40 people

Scarborough Civic Centre
150 Borough Drive

Monday to Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Sunday: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
       and 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Capacity: 22 people

York Civic Centre
2700 Eglinton Avenue West

Monday to Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Capacity: 25 people

East York Civic Centre
(located in Committee Room 5)
850 Coxwell Avenue

Friday: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Capacity: 12 people

    Frequently asked questions about City wedding chambers  
   
Question How do I book one of the Civic Centre chambers?
Answer You can book a chamber when you visit Registry Services for your marriage licence, or during another visit. For more details, contact Registry Services at: registryservices@toronto.ca or 416-392-7036.
 
Question What is the fee?
Answer The fee is $100 plus $13.00 HST for a total of $113.00.
 
Question Can I change or cancel my booking?
Answer You may change your booking once, free of charge. A second change will require another payment of $100 plus HST. If you cancel altogether, there is no refund.
 
Question What do I have to provide myself?
Answer The couple must provide:
  • An official to perform the wedding (an officiant).
  • Two witnesses
  • An interpreter, if needed, for sign language or a language other than English
Question What do we do when we arrive?
Answer When you arrive, you can go directly to the wedding chamber at your booked time. Be sure your officiant and guests know when to arrive. (The chamber should be unlocked whenever there is a booking but, if it is locked, security staff can unlock it).
 
Question Are there changing rooms in the chambers?
Answer No there are no special rooms for changing.
 
Question How long can we be in the chamber?
Answer The booking is for 30 minutes. Please respect the time, as there may be another couple getting married after your ceremony.
 
Question Does the ceremony include music?
Answer Music is permitted, but is not included with the booking. You may bring your own. Each site (with the exception of East York Civic Centre) comes equipped with a portable sound system that will play or CD, MP3 or iPod.
 
Question May my guests bring confetti and/or rice to the ceremony?
Answer No, confetti, rice and other materials are not permitted to be thrown on City property.
 
Question May I decorate the chambers?
Answer Yes, as long as decorations can be removed. CANDLES ARE NOT PERMITTED.
 
Question Is food and alcohol allowed in the chambers?
Answer No.
 
Question Are cameras and video players allowed?
Answer Yes, both are allowed.
