- A: Yes. For information about summer jobs or full-time employment opportunities in Parks, Forestry and Recreation and other City divisions, visit Human Resources. You can apply for positions such as arborist, gardener and facility maintenance staff. Current opportunities are listed on the Human Resources job board or you can apply for future opportunities. Hiring Now offers part-time employment recreation and culture jobs only.
- Q: What type of positions does Hiring Now offer?
- A: Hiring Now offers part-time culture and recreation jobs working with children, youth, adults and seniors. You can work in various program areas, including aquatics, arts and culture, camps, community programs, fitness and wellness and sports.
Jobs are located across the city in community centres, parks, pools, arenas and city-owned museums and cultural centres.
Refer to the job descriptions for information on each position, including responsibilities, qualifications, period of employment and wages.
- Q: Are all the same positions offered in each of the four districts?
- A: No. Not all positions are available in each district or every season. Refer to the job descriptions for district-specific job opportunities.
- Q: What is the deadline to apply?
- A: Deadline for Summer positions is February 14, Fall, Winter and Spring positions is August 16.
- Q: Do you accept applications after the deadline?
- A: Yes. Applications submitted by the deadline will be given first consideration.
- Q: Can I apply for a job if I will be 14 in a few months?
- A: Yes, however, you must be 14 years of age on your first day of employment.
- Q: I want to apply for more than one position. Can I fill out one application form?
- A: No. Complete one application form for each position that you are applying for. Applications submitted with multiple positions or one position in more than one district will not be accepted. Each application form should have a resume attached.
- Q: Do you accept resumes?
- A: Yes. We strongly recommend applicants to attach their resume to the completed application form along with copies of relevant awards and certifications. Resumes submitted without an application form will not be accepted.
- Q: Will I be contacted or receive notification that you have received my application?
- A: No. We thank all those who apply, however, only applicants who have been selected for an interview will be contacted.

- Q: What is a Hot Job?
- A: The regular recruitment periods for Hiring Now jobs are February and August. Outside of these recruitment periods, jobs become available and need to be filled immediately. Be sure to check out current Hot Jobs in your district on a regular basis.
