Commercial Dog Walker Permits
Permits are available for individuals to walk 4 to 6 dogs on a commercial basis. Permits are issued according to the Commercial Dog Walker Permit Policy
To obtain or renew a permit please complete the Application for a Commercial Dog Walker Permit and visit your local Parks, Forestry and Recreation Permit Office in person.
Commercial dog-walkers may obtain permits, in person, by providing:
- completed Application for Commercial Dog Walker Permit
- agreement to the Permit Conditions outlined on the application form
- personal identification
- $230 per permit, including HST
- evidence of Commercial General Liability insurance coverage for the full term of the permit, in the amount of $1,000,000 for bodily injury, property damage and personal injury liability, and including the City as an additional insured.
A photo of the commercial dog walker will be taken at the time of permit purchase and recorded on the client's account.
Renewals
Commercial Dog Walker Permits must be renewed in person by providing:
- Completed Application for Commercial Dog Walker Permit
- Agreement to Permit Conditions
- Personal identification - verifying dog walker's address and with photo ID, such as a drivers licence
- $230 per permit, including HST
- Evidence of Commercial General Liability insurance coverage in the amount of $1,000,000 for bodily injury, property damage and personal injury liability, and including the City of Toronto as an additional insured.
Please bring your old permit with you at the time of renewal.
Enforcement, Suspension and Appeal Process
Violations of the Commercial Dog Walker Permit Policy and non-compliance with Municipal Code Chapters 608, Parks and 349 Animals will be recorded and tracked by Parks, Forestry and Recreation for further action if necessary, including permit suspension.
A permit holder whose commercial dog walker permit has been suspended may appeal the decision of the General Manager of Parks, Forestry and Recreation, and request to be heard by the Commercial Dog Walker Permit Appeal Committee. A non-refundable fee of $200 must accompany the request.
