Annette Community Recreation Centre is a recently renovated urban community centre serving the "Junction" and surrounding community. Facilities include a swimming pool, weight room, dance studio and several multipurpose rooms and gymnasium. The pool and facilities are fully accessible with separate special needs washroom/changing facility, pool lift and facility elevator.

Programing takes place 7 days a week and facility rental inquires for private functions are welcome.

Camps

Camp Enriched Child - All Day Standard
These Adventure Camps, for campers ages 6-12, have all in the ingredients of an Activity Camp and more. Campers are introduced to a variety of enhanced activities through workshops, special events and excursions. These camps have a $10 consumable fee.
Camp Enriched Preschool - All Day Standard

Camp Extended Child
The Extended Care option provides supervised care before and/or after camp for children registered in City of Toronto, Parks, Forestry and Recreation camp sessions. Extended hours programs have a separate barcode for registration. Refer to the camp program charts for times, fees and locations.
Camp Specialty Child - All Day
The 'ultimate camp experience' for campers ages 6 - 12 who want to develop or fine-tune their skills in specialized areas of interest. Skilled and experienced instructors provide specialized instructional programs. All of these programs are complemented with a full line-up of traditional camp activities.

Fitness & Wellness

Fitness/Conditioning - Older Adult
A fitness workout with no cardio component.
Pilates - Adult
Build longer, leaner muscles while safely exploring optimal strength, flexibility and endurance. Exercises focus on strengthening core postural, abdominal and back muscles. May be required to supply your own mat.
Yoga - Adult
Combat fatigue, release tension and day-to-day stress. Gentle exercises promote flexibility, proper breathing and relaxation while strengthening and toning muscles. May be required to supply your own mat.

General Interest

Courses that span a wide variety of activities and interests.
Interactive Play - Preschool
Courses designed for parents/caregivers and children to participate together in activities.

Youth Leadership

AL: National Lifeguard Service (NLS) - Pool Option
This course is designed to develop sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgement and a mature, responsible attitude toward the role of the lifeguard. The program emphasizes teamwork, leadership, communications and the prevention of accidents and the treatment of medical emergencies. Participants are taught advanced lifeguarding skills. This award remains current for two years from the date of certification. Candidates must bring proof of pre-requiste awards. Prerequisites: Minimum age of 16 years and proof of Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid with CPR-C. SFA/CPR-C MUST be from one of the following recognized agencies: Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross, St. John's Ambulance and Canadian Ski Patrol. If you withdraw from a program 10 days or less from the course start date, a 50% refund is provided. No refunds are given for classes or programs that you miss. 100% attendance and active participation are mandatory!

Upon successful completion of this program, candidates will be able to instruct the Toronto Learn to Swim program including Guardian, Preschool, Super, Ultra Swim and the lifesaving awards of the Lifesaving Society. Time is devoted in both classroom and water sessions to developing skills in the areas of class management, teaching, evaluation, leadership, communication and administration. This award remains current for two years from the date of certification. Candidates must bring proof of prerequisite awards to the first class. Prerequisites: Minimum age 16 years (by the last day of the course) and Bronze Cross or NLS. Recommended: Standard First Aid with CPR-C and Lifesaving Society Assistant Instructor Course. If you withdraw from a program 10 days or less from the course start date, a 50% refund is provided. No refunds are given for classes or programs that you miss. 100% attendance and active participation are mandatory!

Swimming

Adapted Aquatics
Instructional swimming designed for children and adults with a disability. When participants have reached a level of confidence in the water and with their swimming ability, they are encouraged to register in an integrated or private swimming class at their community pool. All participants are asked to contact the Adapted and Integrated section at 416-394-8533 at least two weeks prior to registration and are required to complete an Adapted/Integrated Information form.
Adult Swim 1
Basic swimming skills and water safety. This is an introductory or beginner level. Prerequisite: A keen interest in developing skills and knowledge that promotes safe enjoyment of aquatic environments. Adult 1 develops or increases students' comfort in the water through basic floatation, movement and breathing skills and fosters the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to prepare, stay safe and survive in and around water.
Adult Swim 2
Swimming strokes and water safety. Prerequisite: Ability to swim 15 metres continuously on front or back and a willingness to increase comfort in deep water. Adult 2 develops one or more swimming strokes, working towards proficiency and increased endurance, and introduces or enhances water safety knowledge and skills relevant to the student.

Aquafit - Adult
Aquafit is a fitness class taught in the water. Cardiovascular and muscular workout without impact. Water adds resistance to assist with muscle toning.
Bronze Cross
Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion, Emergency First Aid (CPR-B). This course is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross teaches the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles of emergency procedures, teamwork, and use of special equipment. Candidates must be able to complete a 600m swim in 18 minutes or less. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for lifeguard training in the National Lifeguard Service (NLS) program and Lifesaving Society Instructors.
Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid (CPR B)
Prerequisites: Bronze Star or minimum 13 years of age. Teaches young and adult lifesavers alike how to respond in complex water rescue situations. Bronze Medallion develops physical fitness, decision making and judgement skills in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk. Lifesavers must demonstrate stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Candidates must be able to complete a 500 m swim in 15 minutes or less by the course exam date. Emergency First Aid with CPR-B teaches general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Skills include: victim assessment, rescue breathing, adult and child CPR and obstructed airway response, identification and treatment of respiratory and circulatory emergencies. Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid (CPR-B) are prerequisites for all future lifesaving awards.
Bronze Star & Basic 1st Aid (CPR-A)
Bronze Star is an excellent preparation course for success in Bronze Medallion. Participants develop problem solving and decision making skills individually and with a partner. Learn one-rescuer adult CPR, obstructed airway response, rescue breathing skills and how to contact Emergency Medical Services. Candidates will develop Water Smart confidence and the lifesaving skills needed to be their own personal lifesaver. These are official training certification of the Lifesaving Society-Canada's lifeguarding experts.
Guardian Swim
The Guardian Swim Program provides an introduction to the aquatic environment and basic skills. It is age appropriate and progressive. Learning is facilitated through the parent/ caregiver to ensure comfort, communication and extra safety. Parent or guardian must accompany child into the water. One child per parent/guardian
Preschool Swim 1
Safety, facility and aquatic orientation. Introduction to entries, exits, submersions, breath control and basic floats with assistance. Floats, movement, basic kicks and swimming skills.
Preschool Swim 2
Development of entries and exits, breath holding, bobbing and floats. Introduction to front and back swim, treading skills and deep water orientations. Continuous swim 5 metres.
Preschool Swim 3
Development of endurance, time requirements, entries, bobbing, rolls, sculling and treading skills. Introduction to front crawl, PFD/lifejacket/buoyant aids, clothed survival and use of aids. Continuous swim 15 metres.
Private Swim Lessons
Private lessons provide a ratio of one instructor per participant while completing swimming skills specific to the participant.
Rookie Patrol
Prerequisite: Ultra 8. Features timed 100 metre swims, 350 metre workouts and swims with clothes. A work hard/play hard approach develops swimming strength and efficiency with emphasis on personal responsibility for Water Smart Behaviour.
Tiny Tots Swim
Children in tiny tots progress through the Learn to Swim skills at their own pace. Lessons are private (one participant per instructor) and 15 minutes in length. There are no prerequisites.
Ultra Swim 1

Development of entries, surface dives, elementary back stroke, kicks, lifesaving & treading skills. Introduction to breast stroke and deep dives. Continous swim 150 metres. Class size limited to 4 participants

Development of deep dives, surface dives with underwater swim, all strokes and kicks. Continuous swim 200 metres. Class size limited to 4 participants
