Yonge-Eglinton Centre Artist Rendering The Yonge-Eglinton Centre, along with a number of other areas, has been identified as a location where the City would like to encourage major investment and accommodate some of the anticipated growth.

The goal of the Yonge-Eglinton Centre review is to bring forward new Secondary Plan policies and Urban Design guidelines to direct future development in the Yonge-Eglinton Centre in a manner which is compatible with the existing surrounding Neighbourhoods.

Background

City Council directed staff to undertake a focused planning review of the Yonge-Eglinton area.

A Working Group consisting of representatives of the business and resident communities was set up to function as an advisory panel for City staff.  The Working Group has met with City and TTC staff over the last three years to help formulate proposed Secondary Plan policies and Urban Design Guidelines for Yonge-Eglinton Centre. A Community Meeting was held in June, 2004 to receive feedback from local residents.

A second Community Meeting was held on June 29, 2006, at which City and TTC staff presented draft Secondary Plan policies and Urban Design Guidelines for Yonge-Eglinton Centre, as well as the preferred new TTC bus terminal design. Staff are now receiving feedback from area residents and business owners before final recommendations are made to City Council.
