"Boys and Girls Clubs Week"
August 11 - 15, 2003
| WHEREAS: |
the health and well being of children are our responsibility and in helping them to meet daily challenges we can help guarantee their success in life, and |
| WHEREAS: |
the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Toronto work with many young people that are faced with new challenges and situations everyday; and |
| WHEREAS: |
children's abilities, self-esteem and dreams can be nurtured through the provision of supportive programs and a healthy and stimulating environment which contribute to their future development, well being and prosperity; and |
| WHEREAS: |
this year's event will include a healthy breakfast program, a safety day, an environment day and public open houses at local Boys and Girls Clubs. |

| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim August 11 - 15 as "Boys and Girls Clubs Week" in recognition of the tireless efforts of staff and volunteers who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our children. |
