children are our most precious asset and should be cherished by both their families and society; and
WHEREAS:
it is imperative that we care for, nurture and protect them in order that they become strong, productive and caring people; and
WHEREAS:
the Network Group of Pape Adolescent Resource Centre is an inspiring group of people who work together to develop programs for younger youth and boasts a self support system that encourages and recognizes each other's achievements.
NOW,
THEREFORE:
I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim August 15, 2003 as "Canada's Kids Day" to celebrate the importance of children and encourage everyone to participate and celebrate the significant accomplishments and contributions of youth in care.
