"Easter Seals Month"

March 2003

WHEREAS: The Easter Seal Society of Ontario is dedicated to helping children, youth and young adults with physical disabilities reach their full individual potential; and
WHEREAS: over 8,000 families rely on Easter Seals to purchase costly equipment needed for mobility and communication, and to provide access to critical information, research and specialized camp and recreation experiences; and
WHEREAS: Easter Seals continues to find ways to empower children with physical disabilities through its programs and services, helping them to achieve acceptance and independence; and
WHEREAS: through a network of community partners, volunteers, parents, donors and sponsors, Easter Seals touches every community in Ontario; and
WHEREAS: the annual Spring Campaign is one of the most important fundraising initiatives undertaken by Easter Seals. It is a great opportunity for communities to get involved and make an immediate difference in the life of a child with a physical disability.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim March 2003 as "Easter Seals Month" and encourage everyone to support Easter Seals during this year's fundraising and awareness Campaign.
