Proclamation
"Johnny Lombardi Day"

December 4, 2003

WHEREAS: today as we celebrate the continuing legacy of Johnny Lombardi we are provided with an opportunity to reflect on his generosity and ability to bring people together; and
WHEREAS: the City of Toronto continues to benefit from his tremendous contribution to the spirit of our community where diversity is our strength and people from 100 different countries live, work and prosper together; and
WHEREAS: Johnny Lombardi was a businessman, communicator and entertainer and will always hold a special place in the hearts of the people of Toronto; and
WHEREAS: among his contributions to the well-being of our city, we remember his tireless efforts on behalf of multi-culturism and as the founder of CHIN Radio and the CHIN International Picnic a landmark event that continues to attract thousands of residents and visitors for a weekend that features a kaleidoscope of cultures and promotes goodwill.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim December 4, 2003, his birthday, as "Johnny Lombardi Day" to recognize his achievements and remarkable contribution to the success of the City of Toronto.
