"Maja Gospel Music Week"
October 19 - 25, 2003
| WHEREAS: |
the Maja Awards Organization is committed to encouraging creativity and excellence in Canadian Gospel Music and promoting Canadian talent; and |
| WHEREAS: |
the Maja Awards presentation was formed to promote gospel music awareness, encourage originality and bring together many emerging, professional and veteran gospel artists from all across Canada and around the world; and |
| WHEREAS: |
whether it's swaying to or raising hands to the rhythm of soul-stirring singers, gospel music transcends both nationality and language and is an unifying force that lends great expression to the human spirit and transports us all to realms of spirituality and harmony; and |
| WHEREAS: |
as gospel music continues to grow, let us embrace it as a vehicle that reminds us daily of the need to remember the Good News it represents. |

| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim October 19 - 25, 2003 as "Maja Gospel Music Week" in the City of Toronto. |
