this year's theme for Pharmacy Awareness Week is "Your Health - Your Medicine - Your Pharmacist - Let's Talk"; and
WHEREAS:
pharmacists are the most accessible health care provider and consistently provide front-line services that save the health care system valuable resources; and
WHEREAS:
pharmacists have a wealth of information to share and a variety of resources at their disposal including a Smoking Cessation Program, the Seniors' Safe Medication Use and Children's Safe Medication Use presentations; and
WHEREAS:
pharmacists make a positive contribution to our residents by helping them enjoy better health every day.
NOW,
THEREFORE:
I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim March 3 - 9, 2003 as "Pharmacy Awareness Week" to recognize the contribution pharmacists make to our health and the valuable part they play in keeping our community strong.
