"Women Entrepreneurs Day"

May 16, 2003

WHEREAS: Women Entrepreneurs of Canada (WEC) is a federally incorporated, non-profit organization that is committed to empowering, encouraging and developing women-owned businesses; and
WHEREAS: women entrepreneurs and business owners represent one of the fastest growing sectors of business in the community and are an integral part of our City's economy; and
WHEREAS: WEC is a resource, support and opportunity network that promotes the vital role of businesswomen in the corporate world and provides an opportunity to recognize and reflect on the progress and gains made by them in our society; and
WHEREAS: WEC members meet once a month to network, enjoy business opportunities and help support each other to meet today's challenges and prepare for tomorrow's possibilities.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor Mel Lastman, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim May 16, 2003 as "Women Entrepreneurs Day" in the City of Toronto.
