Proclamation
"Canada's Kids Day"
August 19, 2004

WHEREAS: children and youth are our most important resource and it is our responsibility to care for, nurture and protect them.
For them to become strong, productive and caring people it is imperative that they are provided with good leadership and guidance by both their families and society.
Pape Adolescent Resource Centre (PARC) is a preparation for independence program that serves youth in care and former youth in care. It works with youth to help themselves and each other through their transition to self-sufficiency.
At PARC, young people work together to develop programs that inspire younger youth, and a self-support system that encourages and acknowledges each other's achievements.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim August 19, 2004 as "Canada's Kids Day" in the City of Toronto to recognize young people in care, celebrate their accomplishments and the significant contributions they make on a daily basis.

[Signed Mayor David Miller]
