"Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator
Appreciation Day
" October 27, 2004
| WHEREAS: |
high quality, regulated child care contributes to the intellectual, emotional, social and physical development of our young children and provides them with important benefits that will last them their entire lives. |
|
Child Care promotes the well-being of children and responds to the needs of parents, child care workers and the broader community, by supporting quality of life so that everyone can fully participate in and contribute to the economic and social life of their community. |
|
Recent studies clearly show that trained and knowledgeable child care workers are the most important element in quality child care, and good wages and working conditions are associated with higher job satisfaction, increased morale and lower staff turnover, which predict higher quality care. |
| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller on behalf of the residents of Toronto do hereby proclaim October 27, 2004 as "Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator
Appreciation Day" to acknowledge the influence and dedication of child care workers to children, their families and the enriched quality of life of the community. |
[Signed Mayor David Miller]
