Proclamation
"Crime Stoppers Month"

January 2004

WHEREAS: each year, during the month of January, communities around the world promote and share in the success of Crime Stoppers programs. The City of Toronto supports the promotion of these community-based programs by proclaiming "Crime Stoppers Month"; and
WHEREAS: during the month, crime prevention programs will launch new fund-raising ventures, a variety of publicity events and activities and provide general information to increase public awareness of crime prevention and community safety; and
WHEREAS: the incredible success of Crime Stoppers is due to the continued support from residents and organizations. We all benefit when concerned people watch out for each other and report crimes to the appropriate authorities. This type of support between residents and our police improves the quality of life and safety for the entire community.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council and the 2.5 million people of our great City, do hereby proclaim January 2004 as "Crime Stoppers Month" in the City of Toronto and congratulate Crime Stoppers on its 20th anniversary.

[Signed Mayor David Miller]
