Proclamation
"Doors Open Toronto Week"

May 24 - 30, 2004

WHEREAS: throughout Toronto, our built heritage, both historic and contemporary, communicates the rich diversity of local culture to both residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS: the City is committed to creating access, heightening awareness and promoting appreciation of our architectural heritage and urban design; and
WHEREAS: the 5th anniversary of Doors Open Toronto, the signature event of City's Culture Division, is taking place on May 28, 29 and 30, in partnership with buildings owners, sponsors, volunteers and many community members and will celebrate the prominent place architecture holds in the cultural life of our urban landscape.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim May 24 - 30, 2004 as "Doors Open Toronto Week", and encourage everyone to visit some of our historic sites and urban landmarks to celebrate this significant milestone for our City.
