City of Toronto Proclamation |
 |
| |
|
 "Dora Day"
June 28, 2004
| WHEREAS: |
the arts are a unifying force in our City. They are vital to the cultural and social development of our community and enrich our quality of life. |
|
In Toronto, theatre, dance and opera are an eclectic assortment of everything from lavish musical spectaculars produced by commercial theatres and professional organizations, to small independent troupes who perform in summer festivals. |
|
This year, the Dora Mavor Moore Awards celebrates 25 years of artistic excellence, and like the legendary theatre artiste after whom the awards are named, each nominee of the coveted "Dora" has enriched theatre, dance and opera in Toronto and across Canada, with their outstanding talent. |
| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim June 28, 2004 as "Dora Day" to recognize the incredible wealth of artistic talent in our professional theatre, dance and opera scene and the important contribution these prestigious awards make to the performing arts in Toronto. |
[Signed Mayor David Miller]
