Proclamation
"Ed Mirvish Day"

July 25, 2004

WHEREAS: this year's public party is a celebration of the 90th birthday of Ed Mirvish, Toronto's and Ontario's Goodwill Ambassador, legendary entrepreneur and a great humanitarian.
This free birthday bash brings together family, friends and people from all walks of life, and offers an opportunity to congratulate and express heartfelt appreciation to Ed for his many acts of kindness, both large and small, that have made a difference in the lives of so many individuals and families.
Ed Mirvish has been the recipient of hundreds of awards and honours that acknowledge his tremendous contribution and service to the theatre and performing arts, culture, humanitarian and charitable causes.
Ed Mirvish is well-known and much-loved for his generosity, and holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Toronto, especially the less fortunate individuals and families who benefit from his kindness.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim July 25, 2004 as "Ed Mirvish Day" to celebrate the 90th birthday of a truly remarkable and compassionate man who is admired and respected by everyone privileged to know him.

[Signed Mayor David Miller]
