Proclamation
"Foster Family Week"
October 17 - 23, 2004

WHEREAS: Foster families play a central role in the absence of a child's parent/parents and through understanding patient care and the provision of a stable and loving environment, foster parents try to nurture children in an effort to give them an opportunity at success in life.
Young people are resilient and able to overcome tremendous obstacles because of the nurturing, acceptance and support provided by Foster Parents.
The Children's Aid Society of Toronto has served over 32,797 children and just over 13,323 families - an accomplishment that could not have been possible without the assistance of the 363 Foster Families involved.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller on behalf of the residents of Toronto do hereby proclaim October 17 - 23, 2004 as "Foster Family Week" in the City of Toronto in recognition of the essential and irreplaceable care provided by Foster Parents.

[Signed Mayor David Miller]
