Proclamation
"Green Ribbon of Hope Month"

May 2004

Proclamation
"Missing Children's Day"

May 25, 2004

WHEREAS: over 66,000 cases of missing children are reported each year in Canada and thousands more are the victims of exploitation; and
WHEREAS: children and families in Ontario are victims of this tragedy and increased awareness of the problem is needed to help reduce the incidence of missing children and teenagers; and
WHEREAS: this is a community issue, not just a family one, and we must remember that "Some things cannot be replaced"; and
WHEREAS: this month is set aside to rekindle new hope in the search for all missing children and their safe return, and to support Missing Children's Day on May 25, 2004.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim May 2004 as "Green Ribbon of Hope Month" and May 25, 2004 as "Missing Children's Day", and join Child Find Ontario and law enforcement agencies in urging all residents to remain vigilant in the pursuit of our common cause, the protection and nurturing of youth in our community.

[Signed Mayor David Miller]
