 "Highland Creek Heritage Day"
June 19, 2004
| WHEREAS: |
the Village of Highland Creek dates back to the late 1790's and is the site of one of the earliest settlements in our Scarborough community; and
|
| WHEREAS: |
the Village remains the only area still identifiable as a village, and evidence of historical significance includes W.J. Morrish General Store, Miller Lash/McLean Estate and the third High Creek Public school located on Military Trail, a route leading from Toronto to Kingston; and
|
| WHEREAS: |
the residents of the area are proud of the Village and every year since 1986 they have gathered together to celebrate and mark its existence.

| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim June 19, 2004 as "Highland Creek Heritage Day", and encourage everyone to celebrate this historic occasion with the Highland Creek community, family and friends and enjoy the parade and other fun activities.
