Proclamation
"Holocaust Education Week"
October 28 - November 11, 2004

WHEREAS: it is important that we honour the memory of the men, women and children who perished during the Holocaust.
In order to avoid a repetition of history, we must educate our children about the lessons of the past and help instill in them a deeper understanding of their responsibility for the future.
Only through understanding, remembrance and education of the Holocaust can awareness be heightened and racism and prejudice eliminated.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller on behalf of the residents of Toronto do hereby proclaim October 28 - November 11, 2004 as "Holocaust Education Week".
