| WHEREAS: |
the City of Toronto supports our hotel workers as they build Toronto’s hospitality industry based on skill development, opportunities for career advancement, stable employment conditions and equitably shared prosperity for employers and workers. |

Toronto’s hotel workers reflect the multicultural diversity that enriches our great city and the sharing of cultural legacies and celebrating the differences that make Toronto the most culturally diverse city in the world. |
|
Toronto is known as a major tourism and business meeting location and our hotel workers drive the economic growth of the tourism sector through their warm welcome and the exceptional service they provide to visitors. |

| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim November 10, 2004 as "International Hotel Workers Day" in the City of Toronto, and recognize the invaluable contribution hotel workers make to our successful tourism industry and our city.
