Proclamation
"Lung Cancer Month"
November 2004

WHEREAS: Lung Cancer Canada is an organization committed to providing support and information about this disease as well as encouraging and promoting research in its prevention and cure.
People diagnosed with lung cancer are now living longer and enjoying a better quality of life because of the advances made in treatment and prevention awareness programs.
This year, more individuals will be diagnosed with lung cancer than any other cancer. Of these individuals, at least 50% are not current smokers and 15% have never smoked.
Lung Cancer Canada offers comprehensive and credible information on this disease, risk reduction and treatment that can help prevent lung cancer.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim November 2004 as "Lung Cancer Month" in the City of Toronto and encourage everyone to support Lung Cancer Canada.
