Proclamation
"Maja Gospel Music Week"
September 11 - 18, 2004

WHEREAS: the Maja Awards Organization is committed to encouraging creativity and excellence in Canadian Gospel Music and promoting Canadian talent.
The Maja Awards promote gospel music awareness, encourage originality and bring together many emerging, professional and veteran gospel music artists from across Canada and around the world.
Whether it's swaying or raising hands to the rhythm of soul-stirring singers, gospel music transcends both nationality and language and is a unifying force that lends great expression to the human spirit and transports us to realms of spirituality and harmony.
As gospel music continues to grow, let us embrace it as a vehicle that reminds us daily of the need to remember the Good News it represents.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim September 11-18, 2004 as "Maja Gospel Music Week" in the City of Toronto, to acknowledge the commitment and tremendous contribution made to gospel music by the Maja Awards Organization.
