 "Mental Health Week"

 "Mental Health Tune Up Day"

| WHEREAS: |
mental illness causes untold suffering for millions of individuals and families in communities across the country; and
|
| WHEREAS: |
during this week the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Ontario Psychological Association and their service agencies will promote emotional well-being and increase public awareness of mental health issues; and
|
| WHEREAS: |
Mental Health Tune Up Day is a free-of-charge public education event that features exhibits on mental health and wellness and seminars delivered by mental health experts on a variety of topics; and
|
| WHEREAS: |
it is our responsibility both as individuals and a community to support and care for those in need and help people find the mental health resources they need for themselves, family and friends.

| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim May 3-9, 2004 as "Mental Health Week" and May 4, 2004 as "Mental Health Tune Up Day" in the City of Toronto, and encourage everyone to participate in events that are planned to increase awareness on wellness and mental health issues.
