"National Night Out" August 2, 2004
| WHEREAS: |
on Tuesday, August 2, 2004, a nationwide crime and drug prevention program called National Night Out will be held. |
|
The Toronto Crime Prevention Association is a community organization that supports National Night Out and assists the Toronto Police through joint crime and drug prevention efforts. |
|
This event provides Toronto with an opportunity to join with other communities across the country to promote cooperative, police-community crime and drug prevention efforts. |
|
In conjunction with other organizations, this crime prevention initiative encourages people to meet their neighbours in an effort to make our City a more friendly and safer place. |
|
Through involvement and participation in community oriented programs such as this, the Toronto Crime Prevention Association, together with residents of Toronto, can help discourage crime, strengthen our neighbourhoods and make our City a safer place for everyone. |
| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim August 2, 2004 as "National Night Out" and invite all residents to participate in this very important and worthwhile community event that promotes awareness of crime and drug prevention efforts. |
[Signed Mayor David Miller]
