Proclamation
"Occupational Safety and Health Week"

May 2 - 8, 2004

WHEREAS: North American Occupational Safety and Health Week was first launched in June 1997 by an agreement between Canada, the United States and Mexico; and
WHEREAS: its goal is to focus the attention of employers, employees, the general public and all those involved in occupational health and safety, on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace; and
WHEREAS: participation in Occupational Safety and Health Week provides an excellent opportunity to focus, reinforce and strengthen our commitment to occupational health and safety; and
WHEREAS: the City of Toronto has demonstrated its commitment to occupational health and safety, illness and injury prevention.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim May 2 - 8, 2004 as "Occupational Safety and Health Week" in the City of Toronto and encourage everyone to become aware of the importance of health and safety.
