 "Ovarian Cancer Month" September 2004
| WHEREAS: |
this year over 2,600 Canadian women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer, the most serious gynaecological cancer, and with no early detection test available, many of them will not survive. |
|
Founded in 1977, the National Ovarian Cancer Association is dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer by providing leadership and support to women living with this disease and their families. |
|
The National Ovarian Cancer Association has raised awareness in the general public and among health care professionals and funds research into prevention, early detection and improved treatment that could ultimately lead to a cure and higher survival rate. |
| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim September 2004 as "Ovarian Cancer Month" in the City of Toronto and encourage everyone to participate in the National Ovarian Cancer Association Walk of Hope in support of this very worthy cause. |
[Signed Mayor David Miller]
