 "Seniors' Jubilee Week" August 16 - 20, 2004
| WHEREAS: |
the arts are a unifying force in our City. They enrich our quality of life and are vital to the cultural and social development of our communities. |
|
There is no national or local designation to honour the valuable resource and legacy of our seniors. The Seniors' Jubilee is the largest annual celebration of its kind in Canada, and features more than 1,300 talented performers aged 50 and over. |
|
Now in its 16th year, this much-anticipated week-long variety show extravaganza, at the prestigious Roy Thomson Hall, provides talented seniors and older adults with an opportunity to share their joy of singing, dancing, music and laughter. |
|
The Jubilee recognizes and validates the tremendous talent of seniors from communities across Ontario, and as the largest seniors' entertainment showcase, it inspires audiences and continued to prove that age is no barrier to accomplishment. |
| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim August 16-20, 2004 as "Seniors' Jubilee Week" to recognize the tremendous contributions made to this valuable and unique event by the performers, volunteers, audiences, sponsors and producers. |
[Signed Mayor David Miller]
