 "Social Work Week"
March 1 - 6, 2004
| WHEREAS: |
professional social workers are engaged in a global service to meet human needs arising from societal and personal relationships and interactions; and |
| WHEREAS: |
society has long been dependent on the practical and compassionate work of communities and individuals facing trying and challenging times; and |
| WHEREAS: |
social workers are activists for change - advocating for those less fortunate, the oppressed and vulnerable; and |
| WHEREAS: |
for decades, social workers have championed ending discrimination and promoting equality, social justice and equal opportunities for all. |
| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council do hereby proclaim March 1 - 6, 2004 as "Social Work Week". Let us all join in recognizing the dedicated and important services that social workers provide to enhance and improve our quality of life. |
