Proclamation
"Taoist Tai Chi Awareness Day"
September 4, 2004

WHEREAS: Taoist Tai Chi Society of Canada is a non-profit, volunteer based organization dedicated to promoting and raising awareness of the benefits of Taoist Tai Chi in order to encourage physical, mental and spiritual well-being in the community.
Regular practice of Taoist Tai Chi promotes a wide range of health benefits to the muscular, skeletal and circulatory systems and is meant to be practiced in a spirit of compassion and service to others.
The ancient Taoists were renowned for their study of the arts of health and longevity and the simple and gentle movements of Taoist Tai Chi serve as a medium of meditation that reduces stress and provides a way to promote a healthy body and mind.
NOW,
THEREFORE: I, David Mayor Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim September 4, 2004 as "Taoist Tai Chi Awareness Day".

[Signed Mayor David Miller]
