"Variety Village Sunshine Month"

April 2004

WHEREAS:	Variety Village is a world-class facility that promotes physical activity and provides programs for children in Toronto and the surrounding areas who are either in physical, emotional, social or economic need; and
WHEREAS:	Variety Village is a leader in adaptive physical activity, recreation and sport and is able to provide vital services and programs with the support of many volunteers, corporations, community-minded organizations and individuals; and
WHEREAS:	this year Variety Village is celebrating the 13th annual Sunshine Games, its most important fundraising event that offers children, their families and people in the community with an opportunity to experience and participate in a day filled with fun and excitement; and
WHEREAS:	Variety Village, in partnership with its community sponsor the RBC Royal Bank, has undertaken to raise funds through raffle ticket sales and corporate participation as part of the Sunshine Games being held on May 2, 2004.
NOW,
THEREFORE:	I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim April 2004 as "Variety Village Sunshine Month" to recognize the outstanding staff and volunteers at Variety Village who assist and encourage special needs children every day, and encourage everyone in the community to support this important fund-raising effort, and help make a difference in many lives.
