 "World Theatre Day"
March 27, 2004
| WHEREAS: |
World Theatre Day was first proposed in June 1961, and today, Theatre has evolved into an incredible art form; and |
| WHEREAS: |
this day gives us an opportunity to celebrate actors, directors, playwrights and everyone involved in Theatre production; and |
| WHEREAS: |
Theatre entertains us, thrills us, captivates us and allows our imagination to take flight. It enriches our lives and adds to our social and cultural development; and |
| WHEREAS: |
no matter what form it takes, Theatre is timeless, ageless and allows us to act out our dreams, express our emotions and unites us in the sensation and passion of what is before us. |
| NOW, |
| THEREFORE: |
I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim March 27, 2004 as "World Theatre Day" to recognize the talent and artistry of those that make Theatre such a special part of our lives. |
