WHEREAS the mobile technology industry is a trillion dollar economy, serving more than five billion consumers worldwide and is booming with new innovations, ideas, mass-market consumer adoption and a spectrum of opportunities both locally and globally. Toronto has a vibrant mobile industry which has the potential to become a major contributor of our city's future economic growth in 2010 and beyond.

The second annual Mobile Innovation Week will bring together global and local mobile leaders, developers, institutions and industry professionals for interactive presentations, sessions and workshops that will explore new mobile frontiers, Internet applications and business ideas. Mobile Innovation Week will deliver a full roster of activities that will include workshops, seminars and presentations by more than 150 industry experts and leading vendors from the global mobile trade.

Mobile Innovation Week is officially recognized by more than 20 global mobile and digital media trade organizations, and is supported by more than 50 corporate sponsors, media partners and individual volunteers.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor David Miller, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim September 13 - 18, 2010 as "Mobile Innovation Week" to acknowledge the tremendous contribution that individuals and businesses in the mobile industry make to the socio-economic sustainability of our city.
