Finding housing solutions for Toronto seniors is the focus of a report released on September 7, 2006. Housing Toronto's Seniors - Planning for the Future is a comprehensive overview of the seniors' housing environment in Toronto and is the first City report to view housing issues from the specific perspective of seniors.
Development of the report was a collaborative effort by the reference group that was made up of community representatives, senior staff from the provincial and federal governments, and was supported by City staff. The group spent the past 18 months reviewing the housing issues and challenges facing seniors. Their report lays out six key directions for meeting the housing needs of seniors and makes 41 recommendations which form the basis of a proposed plan of action.
