Description of Service / Summary

Residents can submit claims to the City of Toronto for property damage or injury involving City services or operations. Claims can be filed online, by mail, or by courier, and are reviewed by the City’s insurance adjuster. Information is also provided on how to follow up and where to direct claims involving other agencies.

Types of Claims

The City accepts claims related to:

  • Pothole damage
  • Flood damage
  • Damage caused by fallen trees or branches
  • Other claims involving injury or property damage caused by the City, including damage involving a City vehicle

Please submit your claim only once. All claims are acknowledged by both the City and its insurance adjuster.

Once submitted, your claim will be forwarded to the City of Toronto’s insurance adjuster, ClaimsPro, for review and evaluation.

Important Information About Claim Numbers

If you received a 311 Service Request Number, please note that this is not your claim number.

A Claim Number is assigned only after you complete and submit the Claim Web Submission Form.
