Use the City’s interactive map to view and print evaluation results for apartment buildings across Toronto.

Every rental apartment building with three or more storeys and 10 or more units must register with the RentSafeTO: Apartment Building Standards program. Once registered, building owners are required to renew their registration every year by July 31 and pay a renewal fee.

Register, renew registration and provide an email address for your apartment building through the RentSafeTO portal. A login number and PIN are required to access the portal. The City will provide you with this information.

New Registrations

Download and complete the Apartment Building Registration Form and submit it to the RentSafeTO team. Staff will review the application and provide you with a login number and PIN for the RentSafeTO portal so that you can finish the application process and pay the registration fee. Payment can be made using a Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card. Visa Debit is not supported online at this time.

Registration Renewals

You can view your invoice and make payment using a Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card once you have logged into the online portal. Invoices are sent out at the beginning of July and payment must be received by July 31. Visa Debit is not supported at this time.

Submitting an Email Address

The City provides written communication and notices related to properties via email. You are required to provide your contact information and a valid email so that you receive these communications.

You can submit your email address once you have logged into the online portal using the login number and PIN provided by the City for your apartment building.

Payment

Online payment through the RentSafeTO portal is the preferred payment method.

You can also pay by cash or cheque (payable to City of Toronto, Treasurer) isaccepted by mail or in person at:

If there is a change in property ownership or mailing address, please update the information with Revenue Services. Once completed, written notice must be provided to RentSafeTO within 30 days. Email RentSafeTO@toronto.ca or mail the notice to:
