The City is improving Leaside Memorial Gardens Arena as part of a state-of-good-repair project that will replace the existing ice rink pad (rink B), refrigeration system, roof, and upgrade the mechanical and electrical system within the old section of the building. The washrooms and change rooms will be improved to include accessibility features. Rink A and the washrooms and change rooms in the new section of the building will remain open throughout the project.

May 2025

Construction Update

Construction on rink B is underway and progressing on schedule. The dasher boards have been removed, and reinforcement of the existing roof trusses is ongoing. Work on the trusses is expected to be completed by the end of June. Demolition of the rink slab will follow.

March 2025

Rink Roof Replacement Starts

Construction to replace the roof over rink B has started and is expected to be completed by the end of April 2025.

Spring 2023

The design phase is completed and construction is anticipated to start in 2025.

Summer/Fall 2022

A design team has been hired and are confirming the project scope in preparation for detailed design later this fall.
