The City is improving York Recreation Centre through state-of-good repair work to replace the roof with a green roof (a roof covered in vegetation and growing medium). Construction will happen in two phases which will temporarily impact the recreation centre’s programming.

The roof work continues. The work impacting the indoor pool and pool gallery is completed and the work impacting the early years room and dance studio has started.
A contractor is retained and construction is anticipated to start in the spring. In April, recreation programming will be interrupted because of construction. More information will be provided as soon as it is available.
In 2024, construction will take place in different areas of the roof and at different times. This will impact recreation programming in the fitness/dance studio, multipurpose room and indoor pool.
