Public meetings, community advisory group meetings and events will be
posted here as they are scheduled, including material presented and meeting summaries.

On Wednesday, January 27, 2021 the City of Toronto held a virtual community meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Members of the community were invited to learn about the HCD Plan process, and to provide feedback and ask questions of City staff and the project consultant team.

The City of Toronto held the first and second virtual Community Advisory Group (CAG) meetings for the Cabbagetown Southwest HCD Plan on November 10 and 17, 2020. The purpose of these meetings was to:

  • Introduce the Cabbagetown Southwest Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Plan, process and project team;
  • Review and confirm the Community Advisory Group (CAG) Terms of Reference and role of the CAG;
  • Review background information, including results from the Study phase of the project; and
  • To discuss and collect feedback on background information and results from the study phase of the project.

The Cabbagetown Southwest Heritage Conservation District Study was presented to the Toronto Preservation Board on June 20th, 2019. The Heritage Conservation District Plan phase will be initiated in Fall 2020.

On Thursday, April 26th 2019 the City of Toronto held a community meeting (open house) at Central Neighbourhood House from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. Members of the community were invited to review the HCD study analysis and recommendations, and to provide feedback and ask questions of City staff and the project consultant team.

The City of Toronto held the third Community Advisory Group (CAG) meeting for the Cabbagetown Southwest HCD Study at Central Neighbourhood House on March 25, 2019. The purpose of this meeting was to:

  • Present the criteria for determining a district’s cultural heritage value and boundary
  • Review the draft evaluation and proposed cultural heritage value and boundary for Cabbagetown Southwest
  • Receive feedback from CAG members
  • Discuss the format for the second community open house

CAG Meeting #3 Summary

The City of Toronto held the second Community Advisory Group (CAG) meeting for the Cabbagetown Southwest HCD Study at Central Neighbourhood House on November 13, 2018. The purpose of this meeting was to:

  • Provide an update on the HCD Study and work completed to-date
  • Respond to questions from CAG meeting #1
  • Facilitate a guided discussion on neighbourhood history and character analysis

It was agreed upon at the meeting that a third advisory group meeting will be held in early February 2019 to review the HCD Study evaluation, prior to the second community consultation (open house).

The City of Toronto held the first Community Advisory Group meeting for the Cabbagetown Southwest HCD Study at Central Neighbourhood House on October 2, 2018. The purpose of this meeting was to:

  • Review and adopt the CAG Terms of Reference
  • Learn about the Cabbagetown Southwest HCD Study process
  • Present work completed to date by the study team
  • facilitate a guided discussion on neighbourhood character and the area’s defining features

The City of Toronto held the first Open House for the Cabbagetown Southwest HCD Study at Central Neighbourhood House on July 5, 2018.

The purpose of the event was to:

  • Introduce the Cabbagetown Southwest HCD Study
  • Present background material and a preliminary understanding of the area
  • Seek participation of members for the Community Advisory Group
  • Answer community member questions about the HCD Study process
  • Highlight next steps in the study process
