St. James Town Connects is an initiative to create safer, accessible and animated open spaces and improved pedestrian connections. The objective is to develop strategies and provide an implementation plan to help guide and coordinate potential future investment and growth in the area. A number of meetings and community open houses have been held to obtain input from the community and stakeholders.

St. James Town Connects updates and refines the ideas for creating more usable open space and better pedestrian connections, building on the 1989 Community Improvement Plan (CIP), the St. James Town 2000: A Community Action Plan and the St. James Town Open Space Study (2003). In 2004, a new CIP boundary was approved to ensure integrated neighbourhood improvements in St. James Town and North St. James Town. St. James Town Connects will provide a detailed framework to promote placemaking in the area.
