On September 10, 2024 the City of Toronto hosted a fourth Community Consultation Meeting (CCM) for the West Queen West Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Plan. The event was held in person at the Theatre Centre (1115 Queen Street West) from 6 – 8 p.m. The purpose of this meeting was to gather public feedback about the draft policies and guidelines in the HCD Plan. The meeting followed a drop-in, open house format. City Planning staff were available to answer questions about heritage planning, and to explain the contents and objectives of the draft HCD Plan.

On August 12, 2024, City Planning staff met virtually with board members of the West Queen West Business Improvement Association (BIA). The purpose of this meeting was to review and discuss in detail portions of the draft HCD Plan that most impacted business owners and operators. The evening meeting was chaired by Third Party Public, with material presented by Heritage Planning.
On August 1, 2024, a Local Advisory Committee (LAC) comprising representatives from several local organizations met virtually. The meeting began with a review of the feedback received from LAC Meeting #1. The second part of the meeting shared additional sections of the draft HCD Plan with the LAC members for their review. The evening was chaired by Third Party Public with material presented by Heritage Planning staff.
On June 24, 2024, a Local Advisory Committee (LAC) comprising representatives from several local organizations met virtually. The purpose of this meeting was to review portions of the draft HCD Plan and provide feedback to City Staff. The evening was chaired by Third Party Public with material presented by Heritage Planning.
On March 7, 2024, City of Toronto Heritage Planning staff, in collaboration with the Indigenous engagement and consultation firm Innovation 7, hosted an in-person meeting from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto (NCCT) to speak with members of the local urban Indigenous community concerning the West Queen West and Kensington Market Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Plans. The purpose of this meeting was to gather additional feedback on the draft objective and guidelines for each of the two HCD Plans by featuring a case study example from Kensington Market. There was a formal presentation by City staff that included open discussion periods facilitated by Innovation 7.
On September 28, 2023, City of Toronto Heritage Planning staff, in collaboration with the Indigenous engagement and consultation firm Innovation 7, hosted two in-person meetings to speak with members of the local urban Indigenous community concerning the West Queen West and Kensington Market Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Plans. The purpose of these meetings was to review the feedback gathered at the first two sessions and to present a draft objective and guidelines for each of the two HCD Plans. There was a formal presentation by City staff that included open discussion periods facilitated by Innovation 7. On July 20, 2023, City of Toronto Heritage Planning staff, in collaboration with the Indigenous engagement and consultation firm Innovation 7, hosted two in-person meetings at the Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre (Queen West Site) to speak with members of the local urban Indigenous community concerning the West Queen West and Kensington Market Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Plans. The purpose of these meetings was to gather feedback on whether there are places of value to Indigenous community members in these districts, and to identify opportunities to reflect Indigenous histories and perspectives in the HCD plans. There was a formal presentation by City staff that included open discussion periods facilitated by Innovation 7. These meetings took place on the same date at the following times:
On October 17, 2019, the City of Toronto held a Community Consultation Meeting (CCM) for the West Queen West & Parkdale Main Street Planning Study and HCD Plans at the Parkdale Public Library.
The purpose of this meeting was to provide an update on the West Queen West and Parkdale Main Street HCD Plans and present the draft Official Plan policies. City Planning Staff were available during the Open House to answer questions and explain the objectives of the proposed West Queen West and Parkdale Main Street Site and Area Specific Policy, as well as the proposed HCDs.
The Open House was followed by a facilitated presentation and discussion.
On November 29, 2016, the City of Toronto held a Community Consultation Meeting (CCM) for the West Queen West Heritage Conservation Study at The Theatre Centre.
The purpose of this meeting was to present the findings from the built form & character analysis and heritage evaluation as well as the draft recommendations of the West Queen West HCD Study. This was followed by a facilitated discussion and activity.
On October 26, 2016, the West Queen West HCD Working Group met at the Trinity Recreation Community Centre for its second meeting. The evening was chaired by facilitator, Sabrina Colletti (MMM Group) with material presented by heritage consultant, Dima Cook (FGMDA Architects).
The City of Toronto held the first Working Group meeting for the West Queen West HCD Study at the Toronto Public Library’s Parkdale Branch on July 11, 2016.
The City of Toronto held the first Community Consultation Meeting (CCM) for the West Queen West HCD Study at The Theatre Centre on June 23, 2016.
The purpose of this meeting was to introduce the study, provide an update on the concurrent West Queen West Planning Study and to gather community input on the area’s heritage value.
