OW Regs

41. The budgetary requirements for an applicant or recipient to whom sections 43 and 44 do not apply shall be equal to the sum of the following amounts:

5. A monthly amount for personal needs due to advanced age equal to $44 with respect to each member of the benefit unit who has attained the age of 65 years.

Highlights

  • An allowance for Advanced Age Item is a budgetary requirement of Ontario Works (OW) assistance.
  • Each member of the benefit unit who is 65 years of age or older will receive an additional monthly amount of $44.00 to allow for the personal needs due to advanced age.

These participants are not receiving Old Age Security (OAS). Caseworkers are to discuss with the participants the reason(s) for non-receipt of OAS, and where appropriate advise him or her of the legislative requirement to pursue all available income.
