The provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) apply to disclosure of client’s information. These Acts are intended to protect the privacy of individuals with respect to personal information held by an institution while providing individuals with the right to access that information.

Highlights

No employee is authorized to identify or disclose to another person any information regarding a person who is eligible for or receives assistance.

However, the division does share relevant information with specifically approved agencies based on carefully determined guidelines.
