Apply for a Northwest Peace Project Grant by Monday, November 17 at 10 a.m.

The Northwest Peace Project Grant offers up to $10,000 for initiatives by youth-led groups, organizations or collectives that intend to address youth violence by promoting empowerment, engagement and community safety among youth ages 13 to 29 in Jane and Finch as well as Rexdale.

Funded through the TO Wards Peace Program, the grant supports:

  • Trauma-informed projects for violence prevention, intervention and interruption
  • Helping youth turn ideas into action
  • Emerging, youth-led grassroots groups building peace, unity and community cohesion

Projects funded through this grant can begin in December 2025. All projects must be completed by May 31, 2026.

Project Eligibility

  • Applicants must be youth-led groups, organizations or collectives (made up of a minimum of three members) with leadership held by youth ages 13 to 29 from and serving Jane and Finch or Rexdale
  • Applicants must agree to work with Generation Chosen, a community organization that will trustee monies
  • Anti-violence projects must be trauma-informed and address community violence prevention, interruption, intervention and healing

Ineligible Projects

Funding will not be provided for:

  • Projects outside Jane and Finch or Rexdale (all activities must take place within these neighborhoods)
  • Projects led by youth living outside these communities
  • Political or religious initiatives
  • For-profit businesses, including social enterprises
  • Nonprofits or charities (incorporated organizations/registered charities). Youth may apply as individuals, but projects cannot be tied to existing nonprofit programs or events

Peace Projects applications will be reviewed and assessed by panel members from community peers and City of Toronto staff. Groups may be contacted for additional clarity during the review process.

Successful Applicants will be invited to a Workplan & Budgeting Workshop to align their project plans with grant requirements and timelines. They will be onboarded by the trustee (Generation Chosen) before the workshop and must complete projects in line with Peace Project requirements.

Successful grant recipients will be asked to submit and complete a work plan and budget.
