Like our staff, our volunteers are the heart of Toronto Animal Services. Their compassion, dedication, and commitment help provide comfort, enrichment and hope to the animals in our care, every single day.
Every day, dedicated volunteers walk alongside shelter animals during some of the most important moments of their lives. Whether it’s taking a dog for a walk, spending quiet time with a shy cat, reading a story to a nervous animal, offering gentle words of encouragement, or simply sitting patiently beside them, these small acts of kindness make a lasting impact.
Over the years, we have had the privilege of working with incredible volunteers who have devoted countless hours to helping our animals feel safe, loved, and hopeful. Many have been with us for years, becoming a valued part of our shelter community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of animals.
These moments may seem simple, but they help prepare animals for their next chapter, whether that’s finding a loving forever home, entering a foster home, or being transferred to one of our rescue partners.
Our volunteers don’t just enrich the lives of animals; they help transform fear into confidence, loneliness into companionship, and uncertainty into hope.
If you have the time, compassion, and passion to make a meaningful difference in the lives of shelter animals, we’d love to welcome you to our volunteer team.
Currently, we are not accepting new volunteer applications.
We are incredibly grateful for the continued interest from members of our community who want to support Toronto Animal Services. Our volunteer program is currently at capacity, but opportunities become available throughout the year as program needs change.
Please check this page regularly for future recruitment opportunities. We look forward to welcoming new volunteers when positions become available and invite you to join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of Toronto’s shelter animals.
