Contact Toronto Public Health before your construction or renovation begins to minimize concerns or changes. It can be costly to make changes after you have completed or even started your construction.
Detailed plans are required by Toronto Building. Your plan will be reviewed for compliance with various regulations including the Ontario Building Code.
Prior to construction, submit a copy of your plan to Toronto Public Health – Healthy Environments. Your plan will be reviewed to ensure it is in compliance with the Ontario Food Premises Regulation. Your plan should include the layout and provision of all equipment and plumbing fixtures.

After your plan is approved and construction is complete, your premises will be inspected prior to opening. Please contact Toronto Public Health to arrange a date.
