“WHEREAS Terry Fox, a twenty-one year old resident of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, has lost his right leg to cancer, and
WHEREAS he has made a courageous fight back resulting in his jogging across Canada in an effort to raise funds through sponsorship, to generate money for advancing cancer research, and
WHEREAS this is an incredible example to those of us who are more fortunate,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Terry Fox be recognized on Thursday, July 10th, when he passes through Scarborough by appointing him Mayor of Scarborough for the day.
Alderman Wimbs, with the consent of Council, inserted the word “Honorary” before the word “Mayor” in the last line of his resolution.
Alderman Wimbs’ motion carried.
