A service request to report a furniture, metal item, e-waste or oversized item not picked up, can be submitted on line at: http://www.toronto.ca/311/, or call 311. Please note that you must report oversized items not picked up within 1 business day of the scheduled collection day. Customers who have submitted a service request for a missed pick up should leave the bin at curbside.  The investigation into why your items were not collected by Solid Waste Management Services will be addressed within 2 business days (Tuesday to Friday).

Oversized items are defined as those larger than 1.2 metres in any one dimension or weigh more than 20 kgs. This includes appliances, furniture (sofas, chairs), mattresses, toilets, etc.

Daytime Collection:

  • Oversized items are collected on your regularly scheduled garbage day
  • Items must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
  • All items must be removed from the street and placed out again during the proper time to avoid risk of a bylaw infraction.
  • Laneway customers: oversized items are collected in the same area as garbage, recycling and organics

Apartments above Businesses (previously called RUAC) Night Collections:

  • Items must be put out on the correct week/night according to your regularly scheduled garbage collection
  • Items must be accessible
  • Items are to be placed out after 6:00 p.m. and before 9:00 p.m.
  • All items must be removed from the street and placed out again during the proper time to avoid risk of a bylaw infraction.

Annual Oversized & Metal Items Fee: will appear on the Utility Bill regardless of whether an oversized or metal item is placed out for collection or not. The amount will be spread over the year, billed at pro-rated amounts based on the length of a given billing period. Please refer to the City of Toronto website for information of fees and programs.
